The "5th International Symposium on Sustainable Logistics, "Green Deal" is scheduled to take place in Mersin, Türkiye on May 15-16, 2025, and will feature hybrid sessions hosted by Toros University's Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences, the Department of International Trade and Logistics. In collaboration with esteemed institutions such as the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence on Sustainability (ERASME), Lazarski University, Birmingham City University (BCU), The University of Tokyo (UTokyo), Wismar University, and the Turkish Logistics Association (LODER), Toros University is committed to fostering meaningful discourse in this domain.
The theme of the symposium is the “Green Deal” a strategy that prioritizes environmental sustainability and combating climate change. The Green Deal, which emerged as a European Union initiative, aims to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050 and to set a global example for climate-focused strategies. Its global impact is increasing as it addresses shared environmental challenges and inspires collaborative solutions for sustainability on a worldwide scale. This symposium aims to develop supply chain and logistics systems using more equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and environmentally friendly strategies. It aims to develop innovative approaches focused on environmental sustainability in the field of supply chain and logistics and to discuss how this transformation can be spread globally. It also aims to highlight the potential of the Green Deal strategy as a source of inspiration for environmentally sensitive logistics practices.
In this context, the symposium, whose main theme is “Green Deal” aims to reveal the latest developments in logistics and all possible impacts of this approach from a sustainability perspective. In addition, the symposium will bring together current research, practices, and scientific studies in various disciplines that will contribute to the development of sector activities. Thus, the symposium aims to develop professional and social communication and cooperation methods based on environmental awareness among stakeholders by focusing on global and regional problems and ultimately contribute to the implementation of environmentally sensitive solution models.
As an outcome of the symposium, the expertise and experiences acquired in the symposium will be published as an electronic proceeding book with e-ISBN by Toros University's Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences in order to pioneer scholarly and sectoral research.
